Maximum wind gust of 72 mph reported 25 miles west-southwest of Cheyenne, Wyoming by retired NWS employee.

Wider weather episode

A strong pressure gradient produced high winds across much of southeastern Wyoming from the evening of February 15th through the afternoon of the 16th. Gusts from 60 to 70 mph were fairly widespread, with unofficial gusts as high as 77 mph recorded on Interstate 25 south of Wheatland, Wyoming.
