A seasonably impressive cyclone and associated upper-level shortwave quickly progressed over the upper Great Lakes on 7/20, providing support for thunderstorms to develop over northern Michigan during the early afternoon along an advancing cold front. These storms eventually moved over portions of Lake Huron, producing wind gusts in excess of 40 mph over the nearshore waters.
