Lightning caused a house fire on Lancaster Drive in Houma. Approximately 50% of the home was damaged by the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire. Time estimated by radar.

Wider weather episode

A cold front was moving into south Louisiana on the afternoon of the 27th. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms were moving south along this boundary. The front began to slow its progression and stall as it moved south. It's common for local summer-time thunderstorms to produce frequent lightning and it was no different for this day. One of those lightning bolts struck a house in Houma, resulting in a fire. No one was home at the time of the fire.
