Several trees and power lines were downed by thunderstorm winds mostly in the northern portion of the county.
Wider weather episode
A persistent hot and moist air mass allowed for high levels of instability in southeast West Virginia. A cold front moving southeast through the region interacted with this unstable air mass and formed scattered severe thunderstorms which produced damaging winds.
