A line of showers and thunderstorms tracked east northwest Illinois Tuesday evening bringing damaging wind, occasional lightning, and heavy rain. The strong thunderstorm winds gusts of 60 to 70 MPH were reported at several locations in northwest Illinois. These winds brought down trees and powerlines as they moved through in the evening.

In addition, heavy rain occurred with the highest amounts over 1 inch common in Jo Daviess and Stephenson counties in IL.
