Half dollar size hail was reported east of Yeso.

Wider weather episode

A weak disturbance plus favorable upslope flow resulted in an uptick in thunderstorm coverage across eastern New Mexico on August 29, 2022. With a sufficient amount of afternoon instability, several of these thunderstorms became strong to severe across the eastern plains through the evening hours. A severe thunderstorm near Yeso in De Baca County produced large hail although no damage was reported with it.
