Wider weather episode
A surface low moved east-southeastward from eastern Iowa to northwestern Ohio during the early afternoon of the 20th through early evening of the 21st. This allowed the accompanying warm front to move northeastward from the Middle Ohio Valley toward the southern shore of Lake Erie. As the front approached Lake Erie, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms produced gale-force to storm-force peak wind gusts along the southern lakeshore during the late afternoon and early evening hours of both days. These showers and storms occurred in an environment comprised of moderate MUCAPE, DCAPE, and effective bulk shear, respectively.
