Two areas of severe weather developed during the evening and nighttime hours. The first area was along a cold front over northwest North Dakota, where strong thunderstorm wind gusts were the primary threat, with the strongest wind gust of 69 mph being reported at the Williston Airport in Williams County. The second area was over central North Dakota affecting Wells and Foster counties, where an area of thunderstorms produced strong thunderstorm winds and some large hail. The strongest reported wind gust in this area was 61 mph at the Carrington Airport in Foster County, while one inch diameter hail fell to the west of Hurdsfield in Wells County.
