Several large trees were blown down by thunderstorm winds on Cumberland Gap Road. One tree fell on a utility line and snapped a utility pole.

Wider weather episode

An upper level storm system interacting with a warm and most airmass, triggered isolated afternoon thunderstorms across southwest Virginia. A couple of these storms produced locally damaging winds.
