The entire zone started out in Severe(D2) drought but by the end of the month the northern half was in Moderate(D1) drought while the south remained in Severe(D2) drought.

Wider weather episode

Above normal rainfall in late June and July brought some relief to drought conditions across southern New Mexico in July.
