The entire zone started the month in Extreme(D3) drought and improved to Severe(D2) drought by the end of the month. The Hillsboro Cooperative Observer reported 2.37 inches of precipitation which was 0.29 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Above normal rainfall in late June and July brought some relief to drought conditions across southern New Mexico in July.
