The western half of the zone started in Extreme(D3) drought with the east in Severe(D2) drought. By the end of the month, the west remained in Extreme(D3) drought and the east improved to Moderate(D1) drought.

Wider weather episode

Above normal rainfall in late June and July brought some relief to drought conditions across southern New Mexico in July.
