ASOS site JFK measured a 36 knot wind gust.

An upper level trough approaches from the west along with associated weak surface low pressure. The surface low passed to the north and west, but dragged a warm front and cold front through the waters. A round of severe thunderstorms moved through the waters in the morning hours with the warm front. Another round of severe thunderstorms moved through in the afternoon ahead of the cold front along a pre-frontal trough.
