Event narrative
The Snowbasin Mount Ogden mesonet station measured a peak wind gust of 65 mph at 5:45 pm MST, followed by an additional wind gust of 61 mph at 7:00 pm MST, and a final wind gust of 58 mph at 7:15 pm MST as a result of strong outflow from nearby convection.
Wider weather episode
Another active setup in mid-late July resulted in numerous microburst related wind gusts in portions of Utah's West Desert Region, as well as a report of severe hail. Additionally, flash flooding was noted in southern Utah. This also coincided with a period of anomalous heat across much of the region.
