Event narrative
Hail stones between 1 inch to 1.75 inches in diameter were produced by a slow moving thunderstorm that passed over the Bend, OR area.
Wider weather episode
An upper low in the eastern Pacific guided a moisture plume over the region, resulting in numerous rain showers developing across the region. Increasing instability from southerly flow aloft also resulted in thunderstorms developing, with a few storms producing hail stones over an inch in diameter, strong winds, and brief heavy downpours.
