This tornado snapped several cottonwood, ash, and spruce trees in farmstead and field shelter belts in northeastern Finley Township. Survey conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Steele County Sheriffs Office, and Steele County Emergency Management Officials.

Wider weather episode

Clusters of thunderstorms combined into a line of storms during the late evening in eastern North Dakota, then moved southeastward through the region over the next several hours. Significant damaging winds, and large hail were reported, as well as two tornadoes.
