A 3-year-old boy died after being left in a closed vehicle at a school in North Miami-Dade County. Afternoon temperatures reached the lower 90s and heat index values were in the lower 100s, which are a few degrees above normal.
Wider weather episode
Temperatures across South Florida were in the lower 90s with relative humidity values over 50%. This led to high heat index values and contributed to the death of a child who was left in a car during the afternoon.
