A local newspaper reported a 79 year old male died of heat-related causes.
Wider weather episode
A strong ridge of high pressure set up across the eastern United States for several days in early to mid June. High temperatures reached into the mid to upper 90s across lower southern Maryland on June 9. This combined with dew points in the lower 70s allowed heat index values to reach near 105. Two heat related fatalities were reported.
