Ambient weather station at the Shelby Airport measured a 58 mph gust.

A potent August trough brought strong 700mb flow across northern portions of the region. Sufficient mixing was able to mix a few wind gusts meeting criteria to the surface. Further southeast, sufficient instability resulted in two severe thunderstorms.
