Event narrative

The extreme (D3) drought conditions in the far east-central corner of the zone improved to the severe (D2) category by the end of the month. Elsewhere, severe conditions persisted.

Wider weather episode

An unsettled weather pattern persisted during much of the month of September. This resulted in above normal precipitation for much of eastern Utah. This allowed the drought conditions to improve in some areas.
