Event narrative
A member of the public shared a waterspout picture with a broadcast meteorologist, who then relayed it to the National Weather Service Office in Brownsville. The picture was taken early Monday morning just before 9AM CDT and didn't last terribly long. In the picture, a well defined funnel cloud was observed along with water spray at the surface. This waterspout likely formed due to a weak boundary collision about 7.5 miles east of South Padre Island.
