The central portion of the zone remained in Severe(D2) drought while the northwest and southeast areas remained in Moderate(D1) drought. The Antelope Wells Cooperative Observer reported 6.18 inches of precipitation which was 3.89 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Above normal precipitation fell in August across southern New Mexico leading to more drought improvement across the region.
