August started with Extreme(D3) drought over the east and Severe(D2) drought across the west. By August 23rd, the eastern half of the zone improved to Moderate(D1) drought with Abnormally Dry(D0) drought over the west.

Wider weather episode

Another month of above normal precipitation helped to improve all areas of Far West Texas to Moderate(D1) drought or better.
