The Texas Coastal Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) site at Rincon del San Jose (RSJT2) reported a measured gust of 34 knots at 4:18AM CDT. The proximity to the coastal waters from Baffin Bay to Port Mansfield out 20 nautical miles coupled with additional wind gusts over 34 knots reported at Buoy 42020 later in the hour leads credence to the fact this area experienced Marine Thunderstorm Wind gusts as well.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front brought a broken line of showers and a few thunderstorms to the Lower Texas Coast on the morning of October 25th. Several of the Texas Coastal Ocean Observing Network (TCOON) sites along with Buoy42020 reported gusts over 34 knots as the line moved through.
