An east wind gust of 35 knots was measured at a WeatherFlow station at Smith Shoal Light.

Deep tropical moisture moving west along the southern periphery of strong surface high pressure along the northern Gulf Coast in combination with an upper level low pressure system just east of the southeastern United States enhanced shower and thunderstorm coverage throughout the Florida Keys. Isolated gale-force wind gusts occurred in association with the stronger thunderstorms.
