Event narrative

Multiple large trees were blown down. A tree that was blown over hit a vehicle traveling on Shady View Road near Kingsport, killing a woman.

Wider weather episode

Clusters of thunderstorms tracked east-southeast from Middle Tennessee and Kentucky during the afternoon hours of September 25. There were numerous reports of wind damage across the northern Cumberland Plateau and northeast Tennessee counties, mainly in the form of downed trees.
