Event narrative
The Copper Harbor ASOS measured north wind gusts in excess of 45 mph throughout much of the period with a peak gust of 56 mph around 2 am on the 18th. Some minor tree damage occurred with the higher winds.
Wider weather episode
A long-duration powerful fall storm impacted much of west and north central Upper Michigan from the 16th through the 18th with damaging winds, heavy wet snow, and some lakeshore erosion and flooding near Lake Superior. The storm and its impacts attracted national and regional media attention with the NWS Marquette staff giving numerous phone and video interviews leading up to and during the storm.
