Event narrative

A record high temperature of 89 degrees was set at the Seattle WFO, breaking the old record of 86 set in 1987.

Wider weather episode

A period of above normal temperatures and heat continued to affect portions of Western Washington at the end of August. Daytime high temperatures ranged from the mid 80s to mid 90s for the interior lowlands and mountain valley with upper 60s to upper 70s for the coast. Lows temperatures were in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Overall, this posed a moderate risk of heat related impacts.
