Wider weather episode

Remnants of Hurricane Ian moved north-northwest from the South Carolina coast into the northwest North Carolina counties. Ian was classified as a post-tropical system by the time it reached central and northwest North Carolina during the late hours of September 30th, 2022. Strong low level shear and abundant tropical moisture brought strong winds to much of the area, resulting in thousands of power outages and many downed trees. The remnants of Ian continued to impact the area overnight through the morning hours of October 1, 2022.
