A peak wind gust up to 62 mph was reported at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Fort Sumner.

A powerful jet stream focused across the central Rockies set the stage for strong mountain activity along the central mountain chain of NM on November 5, 2022. The strongest winds impacted the area from Clines Corners to Fort Sumner where gusts exceeded 60 to 70 mph at times. Hazardous travel conditions occurred along Interstate 40 and parts of U.S. Highway 285 however no damage or travel incidents were reported.
