Event narrative

The fire started on the afternoon of the 9th and was extinguished by the afternoon of the 10th. In all 30 acres were burned, 15 of which was in the park itself. One home and a barn were destroyed. Around 550 homes near the park were evacuated. No injuries were reported. Oregon Department of Forestry and Estacada Fire Department has not determined the cause of the fire.

Wider weather episode

A strong east wind event brought critical fire weather conditions and above normal temperatures to western Oregon. High pressure developed over eastern Washington and Oregon, spilling across the Cascades to the lowlands of western Oregon.
