Several widespread, heavy rain events during October helped ease the drought across much of northwestern Arkansas during the month. Three to seven inches of rain fell across the region, with much of the region receiving between five and seven inches of rainfall during the the month. This equated to near normal rainfall for the month, to as much as 150 to 200 percent of normal rainfall for the month across portions of northwestern Arkansas. Severe (D2) to extreme (D3) drought conditions at the beginning of the month improved to moderate drought (D1) conditions across the entire region by the end of the month, except for small portions of Benton and Sebastian Counties, which remained at severe drought (D2) conditions. Monetary damage estimates as a result of the drought were not available.
