Event narrative
A period of moderate snow led to slick roads and a two-vehicle accident with one fatality and two injuries (one serious) on the 3000 block of Route 96 (Hyndman Road) near Hyndman. The road was closed for over three hours, with traffic being rerouted around the scene of the accident.
Wider weather episode
A weak area of low pressure pushed up the Ohio Valley during the afternoon and evening of November 15, 2022. This system pushed wet snow into central Pennsylvania, with light rain in the Lower Susquehanna Valley. A quick 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulated from the Laurel Highlands northeastward across the Ridge and Valley region. Although it was only an Advisory-level event, it was the first accumulating snowfall of the year and there were numerous traffic accidents and road closures.
