Event narrative

Multiple sources reported flash flooding developed over western Oconee County after 4 to 7 inches of rain fell in around 6 hours. Impacts were generally limited to inundated roads, including Stribling Shoals Rd and Coffee Rd at the confluence of White Fork and Coneross Creeks. The Chauga River and Ramsey Creek caused significant flooding of Chau Ram Park and Ramsey Creek Rd. Multiple roads were reported flooded and closed closer to Westminster, including Clearmont Rd, which was inundated by Colonels Fork Creek.

Wider weather episode

A small area of heavy rain showers and thunderstorms repeatedly developed and moved over the same areas of Oconee County during the overnight and early morning hours of the 3rd. Rainfall totals of 4-7 inches resulted in flash flooding across the western half of the county.
