A surface low crossed from Lake Huron through Ontario and brought much colder air aloft, deep moisture, and lake-induced instability to the area. This combined with a long period of west-southwest flow yielded a long period of lake effect thunderstorms that provided ample wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and a few waterspouts.
