Event narrative
A mature waterspout was observed by a Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary technician north of Lakes Passage. The waterspout was very narrow and nearly vertical with a spray ring visible at the surface. The movement was slowly toward the northwest. A second, extremely narrow waterspout was observed from the National Weather Service office in Key West further north, extending a quarter of the way from cloud base to the surface.
