Hot high temperatures around 105 degrees, or 4 to 6 degrees above normal, occurred on September 5 causing the Moderate Heat Risk category to be reached. The Pima County Medical Examiner confirmed that heat was the primary cause of death for one individual found in the desert near Route 1 in the far western part of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
