Event narrative

A 59 mph wind gust was measured at Dead Man Canyon at 545 PM MDT. Several gusts in the 50 to 56 mph range were also recorded.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved through eastern Idaho breaking down a long lasting ridtge and bringing very strong wind gusts in the 50 to 60 mph range mainly in the Arco Desert and Upper Snake River Plain. Blowing dust shut down interstate 15 north of Idaho Falls from exits 128 to 135.
