Event narrative

Another round of lake effect snow accumulated to between 3 and 7 inches across northern St. Joseph County, heaviest in the South Bend area when snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour were reported. South Bend officially received 6.5 inches of snow accumulation during this time. Temperatures falling into the 20s, snow already on the ground, and gusty winds also allowed for areas of blowing snow and reduced visibilities. Travel was difficult across the area with reports of slide-offs, accidents and school closings.

Wider weather episode

Periods of lake effect snow, blowing snow, reduced visibilities and gusty winds developed late November 17th and continued through the day on November 18th bringing difficult travel conditions. Snow accumulation of 2 to 7 inches were common across the area, heaviest along the Indiana Toll Road.
