Event narrative

Wider weather episode

A cold front moved across Iowa, allowing for a longer duration rainfall event with central and southeast Iowa picking up a widespread two to three inches with a few location seeing up to four inches of rain. While storms were initially discrete with a few stronger cores, they remained below severe limits and quickly grew into a stratiform regime with little lightning. While this rain helped to ease drought conditions in parts of the state, the precipitation deficit for the year remained high.
