Event narrative

In Worcester, police reported a tree down at the intersection of Salisbury Street and Barry Road; a large tree down on the 700 block of Southbridge Street; and a large tree down on the 100 block of Eastern Avenue.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front moved across southern New England, causing southerly winds that gusted to 40 to 55 mph. Although leaves were gone from many trees, there was still some scattered tree damage in Massachusetts, northern Connecticut, and northern Rhode Island. With a strong low level jet aloft, a few of the heavier showers brought down isolated wind gusts estimated near 70 mph in Dunstable, MA.
