A strong dust storm, originating in Yuma County (Arizona) and Imperial County moved into the Coachella Valley on October 6. Widespread reports of strong winds and severely reduced visibility were received across the deserts, mountains and inland valleys. The following are received reports:
ASOS station KTRM Thermal Airport reported visibility below 1/4 mile in blowing dust.
ASOS station KPSP Palm Springs Airport reported visibility of 3/4 mile in blowing dust.
Mesonet station WWAC1 Whitewater RAWS reported dust storm in the San Gorgonio Pass, with a 43 mph wind gust out of the southeast.
