Significant precipitation deficits over the summer months and continuing into fall led to severe drought developing across north central and northeastern Missouri. On October 4th, the drought monitor showed D2 drought building into eastern Adair County, with this expanding further to include most of the southern two thirds of the county by mid October and continuing through the remainder of the month.
