Event narrative

The central portion of the zone remained in Severe(D2) drought through the month of October. The Antelope Wells Cooperative Observer reported 1 inch of precipitation which was 0.27 inches above normal.

Wider weather episode

Another month of above normal precipitation brought almost all of southern New Mexico out of Severe(D2) drought or worse. By the end of October, only a a small area around the New Mexico Bootheel remained in Severe drought.
