Event narrative

October started with Severe(D2) drought conditions west and Moderate(D1) drought east. By the end of the month, the entire zone was in Abnormally Dry(D) drought.

Wider weather episode

Another month of above normal precipitation brought almost all of southern New Mexico out of Severe(D2) drought or worse. By the end of October, only a a small area around the New Mexico Bootheel remained in Severe drought.
