Event narrative

Winter storm conditions developed across the mountains of Los Angeles county. Heavy snowfall was reported around the resort level with snowfall totals in the 6-18 inch range. Along with the snow, very strong and gusty southwest winds were reported. Some peak gusts from the local mesonet include: Magic Mountain Truck Trail (gust 97 MPH), Sierra Peloma (gust 90 MPH), Ford Observatory (gust 91 MPH), Mill Creek RAWS (gust 70 MPH), Camp Nine RAWS (gust 66 MPH) and Chilao (gust 66 MPH).

Wider weather episode

An early season winter storm brought strong winds and mountain snow to the area. Peak wind gusts in the mountains of Los Angeles county reached 97 MPH while gusts up to 80 MPH were reported across the Antelope Valley. In the mountains of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, winter storm conditions were observed with the strong winds and snowfall accumulations up to around 12 inches above 7000 feet.
