Event narrative
The Idaho County Sheriff reported numerous slide-offs and accidents because of the snow-covered roads. Webcams showed heavy wet snow in the lower elevations weighing the trees down and subsequently a power outage occurred thereafter in the Pete King area. SNOTEL stations reported 12 to 16 inches of snow during the event. Strong winds gusting over 50 mph and trees down near Lolo Pass were reported towards the end of the storm.
Wider weather episode
The north-central Idaho mountains received 10 to 20 inches of snowfall from an atmospheric river. Heavy wet snow and strong winds observed in the lower elevations caused power outages.
