A cold and dry airmass settled in over central California in the wake of a departed winter storm on December 12 and 13. With skies clearing out and winds diminishing, temperatures dropped below the freezing mark for a few hours across the rural areas of the San Joaquin Valley during the mornings of December 14, 15, 16 and 17.
