The wider storm
A strong area of low pressure crossed from the northern plains into the upper Great Lakes on December 15, 2022, while a secondary area of low pressure formed along the New Jersey Coast. Farther to the southwest, a significant amount of sleet fell (widespread accumulations of sleet over 1 inch), along with some freezing rain and snow. There were reports of up to 0.25 of ice accretion from freezing rain across portions of southern PA.
