Event narrative

Severe (D2) drought conditions persisted over northwestern McPherson county through the end of October. Extreme (D3) drought conditions persisted over southwestern portions of the county through the end of the month. Over the remainder of McPherson county, severe (D2) drought conditions deteriorated to extreme (D3) drought conditions by the end of the month.

Wider weather episode

Abnormally dry and warm conditions continued across western and north central Nebraska in October. Drought conditions deteriorated across all of western and north central Nebraska. With the exception of moderate (D1) drought conditions in most of Sheridan County, all of western and north central Nebraska had drought conditions ranging from severe (D2) to exceptional (D4) drought by the end of October.
